Syed Tahir has called Oakville home for the past 24 years and has been a proud Ward 4 resident since 2005. It is where he and his family have built their lives, raised their children, and developed deep roots in a community they are proud to call home.

Syed believes Oakville is an exceptional place to live, raise a family, work, and grow older. His decision to run for Ward 4 Town Councillor is rooted in a desire to give back to the community that has given his family so much and to help ensure Oakville remains strong, safe, welcoming, sustainable, and well-prepared for the future.

Education & Professional Experience

Syed holds a Master’s degree in Economics and a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.). Before immigrating to Canada, he worked as a lawyer and legal advisor to banks, gaining valuable experience in law, economics, financial matters, and practical problem-solving.

Like many newcomers to Canada, Syed knows firsthand what it means to start over. Arriving with his wife and four young children, he worked hard to build a new life and create a secure future for his family.

Syed brings 22-years of customer service experience in Canada, working directly with people from all walks of life. Through active listening, assisting customers, resolving concerns, and managing the responsibilities of a busy work environment, he developed a strong commitment to safety, reliability, accountability, and growth.

A Commitment to Community

Community service has been an important part of Syed’s life for many years. He has proudly volunteered with Seniors Forum Canada, a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the well-being and quality of life of older adults through social, emotional, and physical support. He has also volunteered for many years with Madina Institute and its Food Bank, helping individuals and families within the local community.

Syed’s commitment to Oakville also extends to sport. For 15 years, he served as a referee with the Oakville Soccer Club, officiating house league and tournament matches. In this role, he promoted fair play, player safety, discipline, and respect for the laws of the game.

Whether assisting seniors, helping local families, or contributing to community recreation, Syed believes strong communities are built by people who are willing to get involved, listen to one another, and give their time in service to others.

Ward 4 is home to Syed, and he believes residents deserve a councillor who is accessible, responsive, transparent, and committed to delivering practical results.

As Oakville continues to grow and evolve, Syed believes the decisions made today will shape the community for generations to come. He is committed to protecting the quality-of-life residents value while planning responsibly for a strong, sustainable, and well-prepared future.
